The Ocala Blaze Basketball Developmental Program is an Athletic-Mentoring Program targeting all youth between the ages of 7 and 17. The program is designed to focus on a variety of problematic issues affecting these youth and to provide assistance with handling these issues in an attempt to instill the importance of education and community responsibility while improving their quality of life.
Some of the issues addressed are:
♦ High School Dropouts
♦ Anger Management
♦ Pre/Post Graduation
♦ Delinquency Prevention
♦ Crime Prevention
♦ Substance Abuse
♦ Sex Education
♦ Peer-Pressure
♦ Low or no Self-Esteem
While the program helps each participant build on and improve their athletic skills, it has a strong emphasis on enhancing their academic abilities. With the assistance of specially selected mentors, who are positive role models and successful and proactive community members, each participant will work towards academic achievement and developing an overall positive attitude as they establish their own personal developmental goals in preparation for a successful transition into adulthood. In addition to basketball camps that build team spirit and leadership, our program promotes the importance of community involvement through community service projects, as well as providing academic tutoring and guidance in a structured environment with positive influences that teach confidence, self-worth and integrity while encouraging each young person “to reach for the sky, for the sky is the limit”.

The Ocala Blaze Basketball Developmental Program is a Non-Profit Program that relies on the support of the community it serves through the generosity of local businesses, organizations, groups and individuals, all of whom share a common interest -- a desire to help our youth succeed.
